The Luciano You Didn’T Know - The latest biography of Fontana now in bookstores

In “Lucio Fontana. The possibility of a beyond “ (available from September at bookstores, published by Johan & Levi), Paolo Campiglio writes the biography of the artist who created a concrete and conceptual rupture in the history of 20th-century art. The book, the result of over thirty years of research, offers a human and complex portrait of Fontana, going beyond the myth of his Cuts to tell the restless journey of a man torn between two worlds, Italy and Argentina.
Through previously unpublished documents and unknown anecdotes, the author reconstructs a life marked by the constant tension toward a "beyond" that is not only spatial, but existential. From his training under the guidance of Adolfo Wildt to the creation of the Manifiesto Blanco and later his role as the founder of spatialism, a visionary figure emerges, an artist able to transcend any disciplinary boundaries and reinvent the language of matter.
The book does not neglect the private side of Fontana’s life: his heroism at the front during the war, his years in Argentina, his love for Teresita Rasini, his generosity toward young artists who found in him a mentor and a companion. The scholar weaves together life and work with historical accuracy and narrative sensitivity, presenting a Fontana who is alive, ironic, combative.
The result is an erudite and passionate biography that illuminates the man behind the myth, revealing his contradictions, his insatiable curiosity and his ability to always look beyond.
