Today, Friday, March 6, 2026, the Town Hall of Borgio Verezzi (SV) hosted the fourth edition of Premio Donna. This annual event, promoted by the Agorà Association with the patronage of the Municipality, is dedicated to celebrating local female excellence in the fields of culture, society, and art.
The protagonist of the ceremony was Claudia Sugliano, a journalist, translator, and essayist of international standing. Originally from Piana Crixia in Val Bormida, Sugliano is a long-time collaborator and deeply connected to the editorial staff of AW ArtMag. She was awarded the 2026 recognition for her ability to build solid cultural bridges between distant realities, particularly between Italy and the Russian world.
After her classical studies at the Liceo Chiabrera in Savona, Sugliano enrolled in the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the University of Genoa and later specialized in the Russian language at the Pushkin Institute in Moscow.
She has successfully combined her linguistic and intellectual skills with a great passion for literature. This led her to meet some of the most important contemporary Russian female writers, including Tatyana Tolstaya, Lyudmila Petrushevskaya, and Viktoriya Tokareva. She has translated several works by these authors for prestigious publishing houses such as Mondadori, La Tartaruga, and Il Melangolo.
Her work as an interpreter is equally significant, having served on high-profile occasions such as the "Prayers for Peace" by the Community of Sant’Egidio and the conference for the tenth anniversary of Perestroika in Genoa, where she accompanied Raisa Gorbacheva. Among her most recent projects is the translation of the autobiography of Belarusian artist Boris Zaborov, for whom she acted as an intermediary during his major retrospective at the Maison Caillebotte in Yerres in 2025.
In addition to translation and interpreting, Sugliano has distinguished herself through intense journalistic and essayistic activity. She has collaborated with newspapers such as Il Secolo XIX, La Gazzetta di Parma, and Il Corriere del Ticino, as well as cultural magazines like Arte, Bell’Europa, Bell’Italia, Antiquariato, Arte In, and AW ArtMag. She has also worked on documentaries for Swiss Italian Television (RSI), with filming conducted in Russia and Ukraine.
In the field of art, she has curated catalogs for international exhibitions in New York, Monte Carlo, and the Priamar in Savona, and published monographs dedicated to Saint Petersburg, Prague, and Hungary, which have been translated into multiple languages.
Among her most significant essays is La mia Russia – Viaggi, incontri, cultura e tradizioni russe (Albigraph, 2019), a selection of articles and insights dedicated to Slavic culture. Notably, her upcoming volume Milena Milani – Musa o Regina, dedicated to the writer and artist from Savona, is currently in the publishing phase.
The ceremony was organized by the Agorà – AgorArt Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Borgio Verezzi, BCC Pianfei e Rocca de’ Baldi – Credito Cooperativo Italiano, and EndOrfine.
The management and the editorial staff of AW ArtMag extend their most heartfelt congratulations.
