On view works by the sculptor from the 1980s to today accompanied by the interpretation of the photographer’s shot
A dialogue between sculpture and photography is described in “Red Reflection”, an exhibition taking place at the new headquarters of Schena Generali in Gravedona ed Uniti, a small town washed by the shores of Lake Como. The title pays homage to the hosting venue, which identifies with red as its distinctive color, a symbol of passion, like that for art, which for years has united the two artists featured in this exhibition: Elvino Motti and Mauro Ceresa. Their works accompany visitors through a story of art, friendship and collaboration.
Among Motti’s works we also find Red Age, a large wooden piece dedicated to the animal world Also
Elvino Motti offers an overview of his long artistic career, ranging from his production of the 1980s to that of 2021. These works attest to his versatility, which leads him to work with different types of materials, from wood to bronze, from methacrylate to stone, with a skill that moves from the figurative of his early years to the abstract of his more recent period. Also on display is a large rotating sculpture dedicated to the animal world, the result of two years of research. Made of wood, Red Age, its title, lives again today in a new pop guise, thanks to a vibrant red enamel finish. Also present are the metamorphic works, inhabited by a central sphere that invite an experience that goes beyond sight and also stimulate touch.

Motti’s works interact with the offices of Schena Generali and access other expressive dimensions through Ceresa’s photographs. Displayed along the walls, they guide visitors into a visual experience that turns the fragment into a reinterpretation of sculpture, a gateway toward different perspectives. His is a writing of light, focusing on textures and colors, like the red that ignites in his five unpublished shots created specifically for the occasion. They capture the gaze. The photographer presents the art of photographing art, through his lens, sculpture is reborn into a different visual microcosm.
We therefore witness a fusion between two different, yet not so distant, artistic expressions, narrated along a path between light and matter that seems to say: “There are no boundaries between languages, but a constant flow of ideas and contaminations that opens doors to new horizons”.
