"Mani-fattura: le ceramiche di Lucio Fontana" is the exhibition hosted by the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. The ceramics represent a lesser-known aspect of the master’s work compared to his spatialist pieces, and one that he would never abandon, starting from the 1920s. He dedicated himself to clay, demonstrating, despite his fame in conceptual art, his great technical skills. On display are 70 artworks from both private and public collections, tracing his career from his first trip to Argentina to the period of the economic boom. Frequent stays in Albisola, where he worked at the Mazzotti factory, also led to his friendship with poet and ceramist Tullio d’Albisola. An illustrated catalog published by Marsilio Arte accompanies the exhibition. Among the works on display are Banana e pera (1938) and Concetto spaziale (1962-1963). Curated by Sharon Hecker.
