That Year in Normandy - London: Hockney at the Serpentine

The Serpentine Gallery is hosting David Hockney’s work for the first time in the exhibition “A Year in Normandie and Some Other Thoughts about Painting”. The showcase brings together drawings, paintings, and digital works created specifically for the occasion alongside earlier pieces, testifying to an artistic output that remains vibrant and prolific despite his eighty-eight years.

The selected works share a common thread: simplicity of form is placed in close relation to the Normandy landscape so dear to the artist. A standout feature is A Year in Normandie, which depicts the artist’s studio and its transformation through the seasons: a monumental 90-meter-long digital painting inspired by the medieval Bayeux Tapestry.

Until August 23rd.
