The Exhibition Of The Centenary - New York: Rauschenberg of the Guggenheim

November 17, 2025

The Guggenheim celebrates the centenary of Robert Rauschenberg with the exhibition “Life can’t be stopped”. The exhibition aims to gather and deepen the works already present in its collection, about a dozen pieces, along with works lent by the artist’s foundation. Seriality and the connection between material and support are the common thread of the exhibition, themes expressed through around eighty silkscreens created between 1962 and 1964. Among them stands out Barge, a monumental canvas 10 meters long, created in 24 hours: the immediacy of action painting merges with pop art, in a chaotic and disordered collage full of various images: athletes, clouds, household objects, urban environments, and references to masters such as Rubens and Velázquez. Curated by Joan Young. Until May 3, 2026
