Old Clothes, New Story - Florence: Marion Baruch at the Museo Novecento

November 17, 2025

We live within our clothes, but Marion Baruch makes our clothes live within our spaces. The artist’s textile world arrives at the Museo Novecento with the exhibition “Un passo avanti tanti indietro”, which revisits the social themes she has addressed over nearly seventy years of work: women, the border of identity, the internet, consumerism, migration among others. Her art intersects with formalism through various media, disciplines and materials. The multifaceted journey shifts along with the transformation of her persona, leaving unique imprints that, as Giovanni Bettarini states, investigate “the present time, in all its contradictions”. The focus is on old clothes, which once abandoned, are collected by the artist to recreate, through their memories, a new life that interacts with space, a new story that carries with it a story already lived. Curated by Sergio Risaliti and Stefania Rispoli. Until October 8.
